| Many people think of the AMA as an association for people who show their donkeys and mules. While this is in part true, it is also true that the AMA desires to promote the use of donkeys and mules for all of our different forms of equine recreation. The AMA has numerous awards programs for mules, donkeys, riders and non-riders. A couple of little-known awards are designed for recreational riders. So, if you have friends or neighbors who ride, drive or pack mules or donkeys for fun or pleasure, get them to join the AMA! We want to recruit new members who trail ride and do other non-competitive events with their long eared friends. These awards will be given at the annual AMA Awards Ceremony held each January. | ||

award are:
Participation period will be Nov. 1 through Oct 31 of each year. All participation forms must be postmarked prior to Nov. 15. Rider must be an AMA member in good standing. Mule/donkey must be registered with the AMA. Hours will be recorded on the honor system. Only hours ridden or driven for practice or pleasure will count towards this award. Hours earned competing at an event that can be used for another program will not be counted. If not accumulating points for any other award, hours shall count for being in the saddle. Sitting on your mule or donkey all day watching an event will not earn total hours unless you were riding around (should be in motion the majority of the time). Using your animal for a chair will not count as hours toward this award. Participants must use the SSA form for recording hours on your ?ass? or ?half ass.?
